FAQ
Are rooms shared?
While our 8-bed dorm is shared with others (unless if you’re renting the whole room), all other rooms are private.
Are bathrooms shared?
We assign bathrooms for exclusive use per room. Note that all showers and toilets are outside of the rooms.
(Note: Our automated legionella prevention system flushes the pipes every other day for 20 minutes at 20:00 (8pm) in summer, and 19:00 (7pm) in winter, so best to avoid taking a shower then.)
Linen
Linen is included.
Towels
Towels are only included for our twin room, and are otherwise for rent for 2 Euro.
Boat rental
You can rent any kind of boat from our neighbors opposite us: Smit Giethoorn, whom we warmly recommend!
Parking
There’s free parking available on our premises. Just follow Google Maps (not TomTom or Maps from Apple) to get there! No need to reserve ahead of time.
Breakfast
Our free breakfast is served between 8:00-10:00. It’s fully vegetarian. Let us know if you have any dietary requirements (vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free, etc.) and we’ll try our best to accommodate you.
Pets
Unfortunately, pets are not allowed in our hostel.
Is there a curfew?
Yes and no: you will be given a key so you can come and go as you please – we just ask everyone to be considerate toward other guests. However, our common area is off-limits after 23:00 (11pm), as the acoustics of people talking carry into the rooms.
Is the Black Sheep a youth hostel?
We are an accommodation for all ages*, not just youth. Due to the coronavirus, we operate more like a guesthouse/family run b&b – with private rooms and external private bathrooms – than a hostel. We love the mix of younger and older people getting together and sharing their stories and perspectives on life. We’re blessed with returning customers in all age groups.
*Anyone is welcome, as long as anyone traveling without an adult is at least 16 years of age.

Beddengoed is inbegrepen.
Handdoeken
Is The Black Sheep een jeugdherberg?
